From LinuxDevices.com comes news of a new Linux microcontroller that looks ideal for robotics applications. The Technologic TS-7260 sports a 200MHz ARM9, 32MB or 64MB of SDRAM, 32MB flash drive, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 Ethernet port, 30 digital I/O pins, 3 serial ports, 2 12 bit analog-to-digital ports, a PC/104 expansion port, SPI bus, and matrix keyboard and LCD interfaces. The board also includes a feature they call TS-XDIO which is designed to offload CPU intensive tasks like PWM and quadrature. The board never draws more than 1 watt and can run for 172 hours on a 12V 7.2AH SLA battery. The board comes with a Linux 2.4.26 kernel already loaded into flash. Technologic provides ready-to-go kernel images, bootloaders, and gcc cross tool chains for Linux and Windows. It also supports the minimal GPL'd eCOS real time OS. More detailed specifcations can be found in the TS-7260 data sheet (PDF format). Quantity one pricing is $179 (or $195 with 64MB of SDRAM). Technologic also offers a metal enclosure for the board.
