You've probably seen a lot of robotic pets lately. Well, Hasbro's Wow Wee Inc. divison has a new robotic pet too now called B.I.O. Bugs. BIO stands for Biomechanical Integrated Organism which are robotic bugs that parents buy and kids set loose. They autonomously wander around and avoid obstacles, they feed on infrared light and can follow an infrared light from a remote control, and they can find an infrared light on a charging station to recharge, they can communicate with each other via infrared light, and there's some type of auto feed option. There's four models: the Preditor, the Stomper, the Destroyer and the Acceleraider. The Preditor is agressive and may attack one if its own. The Stomper is more of a hopping robot. The Destroyer sports a protective shell. The Acceleraider is speedy. The pet robots will be selling for about $40. The technology of the robots seem to be using Mark Tilden's nervous nets technology often used in Solarbotics aka BEAM robots. You can read articles about them at USA Today or Chip Center or an article converted from pdf by goggle: here.
