Ground Robots in Afghanistan

robodave pointed us to this AP story on Yahoo about Hermes, Professor, Thing and Fester, the first military robots to used on the ground in Afghanistan. The robots are exploring caves where Islamic terrorists may be hiding. The 4 prototypes are Irobot Packbots. Similar Packbots were used for search and rescue at the WTC by CRASER and by NASA's JPL, where it is affectionately known as Urbie.
