I don't know if shaking hands with a robot will ever provide more than a method of identification for our mechanical friends, but this video from the Ishikawa Namiki Komuro Lab in Tokyo shows how sensory feedback can be used to provide a human quality to an otherwise rigid, preprogrammed motion.
