Robby and B9 Creator Robert KinoshitaPosted 14 May 2004 at 20:03 UTC by steve
Robert
Kinoshita, the designer of Robby
the Robot from Forbidden Planet and Robot
B9 from Lost in
Space, two of the most well-known screen robots of all time, will be
speaking at the
Hollywood Heritage
Museum in Hollywood, California on Wednesday, May 19 at 7:30 PM.
Along with Kinoshita, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, will be
the original
Robby the Robot (accompanied by director Bill Malone, his current
owner) and a replica of the original B9. This could be a
once-in-lifetime chance to see a man and two robots who inspired a lot
of people to enter the field of robotics.
When I was in Big Bear, California I actually saw the Lost In Space
rover (transport vehicle) while going over a valley in a ski lift.
Sadly, it looked like some kids had already decided to throw rocks at
it, broken windows and such, but there it was.

I'd heard someone bought the Chariot back from the ski lift company in
order to restore it and I tracked down this link with the story:
