Natural Language Processing Overview

Lillian Lee of Cornell University has written a short overview of the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) entitled, "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that". Topics covered include language ambiguity and data-driven vs knowledge-driven approaches. The article is part of a collection of papers on the fundamentals of computer science for the National Research Council.
