Robots Called to the Dark Side to Help Make Cookies!

Posted 8 Aug 2011 at 12:01 UTC by The Swirling Brain Share This

Researchers at MIT have taken a Willow Garage PR2 robot and programmed it to make cookies!. Or rather one big cookie! The robot can place all of the ingredients in a bowl, mix, and then dump the batter in a pan and shove it in the oven. Sure, if a human were to do it, it would probably be more graceful, the cookies would be bite sized and probably taste better but this is quite a step forward for robotics. The PR2 has been in the news a lot lately, from folding socks, to buying groceries at a grocery store. The robot is a little out my credit card spending limit at $400K, but for researchers, a PR2 is the must-have robot right now.
