How to use a VPN to access sites blocked in Chrome:

1. Sign up for a suitable VPN tool such as ExpressVPN.
2. Download and run the application on your device.
3. Open the software and select a circuit or location that is different from yours (i.e., London, England). Afterward, connect your PC to a VPN server.
4. The service should mask your current and real IP address with an IP address from your selected location. With this new IP address, you should be able to access the previously blocked website. Unless of course, the country you picked is also blocking that same website. In that case, you’ll have to keep on trying until you find a country where the site is not blocked.

The URL is usually embedded in the website’s SSL certificate, along with the coded keys to access the website. It’s also accessible through the Terminal on macOS or Command Prompt if you use Windows.

Note that this will only work if the website you are trying to visit is able to handle requests from the IP directly. It will not work if the site also hides its IP address and when the website’s SSL certificate is only registered for the domain name. In any case, you can find the IP address of a blocked website through the CMD tool. Here’s how:

1. To run CMD, click on the Start, type in “cmd” in the Run box, and then press Enter. Alternatively, you can press Win + R to open the Run box and type “cmd” to run it.
2. Once the command prompt appears, type the website address into it (i.e., facebook.com). The command prompt should return a list of codes that should automatically include the IP address for the website.
3. Copy the IP address of the website onto a fresh tab on your browser and select Enter as usual.

7. Take advantage of Dynamic IP

Every device connected to the public network or internet will have a random set of numbers assigned to it. This set of numbers is unique to that device and will help to identify it, and this is what’s known as the  IP address. There are usually two kinds of IP addresses (static and dynamic), and the kind of IP you have will have an impact on your ability to access blocked websites.

The clue is in the name. A static IP address does not change, while a dynamic IP address changes over time. Static IP addresses are more appropriate for the company and commercial use, while dynamic IP addresses are more appropriate for personal use.

Step One: Check your IP address status

1. Press Windows Key (with the Windows logo on it) + R together on your keyboard.
2. Type in the three-letter code “cmd” in small-caps and select OK.
3. Type “ipconfig/all” in the command window and press the Enter key.
4. Look for the “DHCP Enabled” option and whether it indicates yes or no. Yes means your IP address is dynamic, and no means it’s static.

Step 2: Manually change your IP address (only applicable to dynamic IP addresses)

1. Click on Google Chrome on your computer or any other device.
2. Key in the default IP address of your router into the address bar and open it normally. If you don’t know your IP address, you can look it up through the cmd option.
3. A log-in page should appear, and you need to provide your router Username and Password.
4. Look for Basic settings, followed by LAN setup from the main page of the Router Settings. From there, you can change the last two numbers of the IP address in the LAN IPAddress field. Note that you can only change your IP address’s third and fourth fields. Changing the first and second fields can lead to network conflicts while connecting with your main network. In addition, note that you can use any number between 1 and 254.
5. Click Save Changes and note your new router IP Address.
6. Restart the Router.

Additional notes: After changing your router’s IP address, you may find that your devices are not connecting to the internet automatically like before. Restarting your devices should fix the issue and allow them to re-establish their connection.
