One of the thermostats was installed later than the other two I purchased. Unfortunately the third thermostat actually caught fire as soon as it was turned on! Thank God my electrician was still there testing the units and was able to dismantle and pull it out before my house went up in flames. The fire was inside the enclosed casing of the thermostat and NOT in my wiring….it was definitely a faulty unit. My disappointment was magnified when I contacted the seller and they refused to refund my money because it had been purchased more than 60 days ago. I pointed out that the unit was defective but they wouldn't budge. Things got worse when I tried to contact Cadet. Their 800 number connects to a call center in India which was not at all equipped to deal with this kind of issue. When I asked to talk to the actual company and not a customer service call center, I was put on hold for 15 minutes then disconnected. After these disappointments, I contacted Amazon and they were fabulous…they immediately processed my request and refunded my money. I still want to let Cadet know about the fire but I refuse to deal with a call center that cannot even process a simple request
