How to buy a song on Amazon Music
To buy a song on Amazon Music, you must use a web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet and go to www.amazon.com (or your regional Amazon website). The Amazon Music app no longer supports direct purchases, so all buying happens on the website instead.
Start in a web browser
Open any web browser and navigate to the Amazon homepage. Do not use the Amazon Music app for this step, if you try to buy a song inside the app, it will redirect you to the website to complete the purchase. The website is the only place where you can permanently own a digital MP3 file, which you can later set song from Amazon music as ringtone on your phone.
Search and filter for Digital Music
Once on Amazon, locate the search bar at the top of the page. Before typing, change the search category from "All" to "Digital Music" or "Buy Music" > "Shop Digital Music." This ensures your results show only purchasable songs and albums, not physical CDs or vinyl. Alternatively, type the song title into the main search bar and then filter the results to "MP3 Music" or "Digital Music" using the filter options on the left side of the results page.
Use the three-dot menu to select 'Buy MP3 song'
Find the exact song you want in the filtered results. You can click the song title to open its detail page, or stay on the search results list. Next to each song, you will see a three-dot menu icon (⋯). Click that icon to open a dropdown menu. From that menu, select "Buy MP3 song." This action bypasses the standard cart detail page entirely, you do not need to add the song to a shopping cart or visit a checkout page.
Confirm payment with Amazon 1-Click
When you select "Buy MP3 song," the purchase is processed immediately using your default 1-Click payment method. This is the credit card or bank account you have designated for one-click purchases on your Amazon account. If you have an Amazon Gift Card balance or eligible promotional credit, that balance is applied first before any remaining amount is charged to your 1-Click method. You will see a confirmation screen showing the song was added to your library, and a receipt is sent to your email.
Locate and download your purchased music
After the purchase, your song appears in your Amazon Music Library. To find it, go to the Amazon Music website and navigate to "Library" in the top menu. Click on "Songs" to see all tracks you own, then select "Purchased" to filter only the music you have bought. To download the file, click the download icon next to the song. If you select only one song, it downloads as a single .MP3 file. If you select multiple songs, they are combined into one or more .ZIP files. When your browser asks whether to open or save the file, choose "Save." If prompted to install the Amazon Music app, click "No thanks, just download music files directly." The files save to your browser's default Downloads folder, typically under "My Music" for PC computers. You can also drag and drop songs from your library to the "Download" section under "Actions" in the right sidebar. Once downloaded, you can store the MP3 locally, import it into another media player, or listen to it offline on any device. This is how you download music from Amazon music, you own the file permanently, even if you cancel your Amazon Music subscription. To access Amazon music on other devices, simply sign in to the same account and your purchased songs will appear in your library for streaming or re-downloading.
