Sewer robot can lay the last mile of fiber optic cable throughout a city that can't afford to dig up streets. See articles in the New York Times and in USA Today. The stories seem to be less about the robot and more about the innovative idea of spending $900k for a robot that pulls cable through the sewer, but at least there's a cool picture of a nice shiny clean chrome robot that I bet doesn't look that clean when it comes out.
