Where to find your delete Facebook search history option
The exact path through the activity log interface differs between the mobile app and the desktop site. This is why many users give up after checking the main Settings menu. On desktop, log into Facebook, click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then select "Activity log" from the dropdown. On the left side of the activity log page, scroll down past "Your posts" and "Photos" until you see "Search history." It is not listed under the main "Settings & privacy" menu. Why the 'clear searches' button doesn't always work

This action only removes the suggestion from your local browser or app interface. It does not touch the stored history on Facebook's servers. When you can't delete it
There are two hard limits to deleting your search history. First, if you have requested a download of your Facebook data archive, any searches made before that request was generated are frozen in the archive and cannot be removed retroactively. You must wait until the archive expires or delete the entire archive file yourself. Second, if your account is subject to a legal hold, the "Delete" option may be grayed out entirely. You will see a message like "Some items can't be deleted due to legal requirements." Even after you successfully clear your search history, Facebook may have already processed those queries for ad targeting or content recommendations. The company does not retroactively undo that processing. Your past searches could still influence the ads you see for weeks afterward.
