Sega announces line of humanoid robots

Posted 28 Feb 2001 at 15:03 UTC by steve Share This

Following on the success of "Poo-Chi", their robot dog, Sega is releasing a line of humanoid robots called "BOTs". Included are Y-BOT, a robot that can recognize and learn words; C-BOT, which can communicate using your cell phone; M-BOT, which can dance to music; and Robo-Chi, a "baby" humanoid robot. These will be marketed in the US by Tiger Electronic, a division of Hasbro. Sega's toy robots are significantly less advanced than Sony attempts at making personal robots, the Aibo and SRD and, despite the claim of being "humanoid" are a bit smaller than actual humans. A press release can be found on Yahoo!. If you don't mind reading a little Japanese, check out the Sega Toys BOT web site which has photos of each robot.
