Only team administrators and coaches can download Hudl clips directly from Hudl.com using a PC or Mac computer. Athletes who want to download Hudl clips must contact their head coach to request the film.
Who can download Hudl clips
Download permissions are restricted to team administrators and coaches. Athletes cannot download videos themselves and should ask their head coach for access. Downloads are supported only on PC (Windows) and Mac computers; mobile devices and tablets cannot perform direct downloads.
How to download Hudl clips from the Classic library
- Log in to Hudl.com.
- Hover over “Library” in the top navigation and select “Manage.”
- Use the checkboxes to select one or more videos you want to download.
- Click the “Download” button above the video list.
- Choose the file type from the dropdown menu.
- Click “Download” to submit your request.
After you complete these steps, Hudl will process your download and send you an email with a link to access the video files.
How to download Hudl clips from the new Hudl interface
- Log in to Hudl.com.
- Hover over “Library” and select “Manage Library.”
- Click the blue circle on each video thumbnail to select one or multiple clips.
- Click the three dots (more options) icon that appears.
- Select “Download” from the menu.
- Choose your preferred format and click “Download.”
This method works exactly like the Classic process but uses the updated interface layout.
What happens after you request a download
Hudl sends a download link to the email address associated with your account. On a PC, the downloaded videos arrive as a zip file inside the “My Downloads” folder, which you must extract to access the individual files. On a Mac, the link opens the video files directly in your Downloads folder. You can select and download up to 100 videos at a time, which is especially useful for batch processing game footage. When you request a download, you have the option to include breakdown data with the video, giving you annotated clips ready for analysis.
Downloading Hudl clips on mobile and iOS devices
Mobile devices cannot perform a direct download to the device’s camera roll. The “Make Available Offline” feature in the Hudl app lets you watch videos without an internet connection, but this is not a direct download to your device’s local storage. For iOS users, there is one exception: you can save highlights to your camera roll. Open the Hudl app, tap the “More” icon, tap “Highlights,” find the highlight, tap the “Share” icon, tap “Share Video,” and then tap “Save Video.” Broadcasts purchased for download can only be saved locally on computers, not on mobile devices or Smart TV Apps. The download link for purchased broadcasts is active for 30 days from the time of email receipt, and the broadcast must be saved to the computer for indefinite access.
