To unlink your PlayStation account from Epic Games, you must do it through the Epic Games website, there is no in-console option. Before you click that button, understand that unlinking severs access to your Fortnite and Fall Guys progress on that console, and in some cases can reset Rocket League data entirely.
Before you unlink your PlayStation account from Epic Games
You need your Epic Games login credentials, specifically the email and password for the Epic account currently linked to your PlayStation Network ID. If you no longer have access to that email address, recover your Epic Games account first; without it, you cannot complete the unlink process. The consequences of unlinking are significant: your Fortnite and Fall Guys progress and purchases are stored on your Epic account, not on the console, so once unlinked, the PlayStation will no longer be able to access that progress or those purchases. If you launch Fortnite on that console after unlinking, Epic will automatically create a new, empty Epic account for it with zero progression. And if you play Rocket League and unlink the account where your progress is stored, your inventory and XP level on that account will be reset. If you need to manage a different console connection, you can also unlink PlayStation account from Microsoft account to sever ties with your Xbox profile. If you're also trying to clean up your social connections, you can unblock someone on PlayStation app to restore communication with a previously restricted player.
Step 1: Sign in to your Epic Games account in a private browser
Open an incognito or private browsing window and go to epicgames.com. This prevents any cached session from interfering. Sign in with the email and password for the Epic account you want to keep. If you are already signed in to the wrong account in that browser, sign out first before proceeding.
Step 2: Access your linked accounts page
Click “Account” from the dropdown, then look for “Linked accounts” in the left sidebar. This page shows every platform currently connected to your Epic account, including PlayStation Network.
Step 3: Unlink your PlayStation account
Under “Your linked accounts,” find the PlayStation Network row. Click the “Unlink” button next to it. Epic will display a warning listing what you will lose, read it carefully. Check all the confirmation checkboxes acknowledging that progress and purchases will be lost, then click “Unlink” again to confirm the action.
Step 4: Complete email verification if prompted
Epic may send a verification code to the email address registered on your account. Enter that code to finalize the disconnection. Afterward, return to the Linked accounts page and confirm that PlayStation Network no longer appears under your connected platforms, that is your proof the unlink succeeded.
What happens after unlinking
Your PlayStation console will no longer access your existing Fortnite or Fall Guys progress, because that data lives on your Epic account. Launching those games on the console will create a fresh, empty Epic account with no purchases or stats. If Rocket League was tied to the primary progress account, its inventory and XP will reset.
