To link Discord to PlayStation, you connect your accounts so your PlayStation game activity appears on your Discord profile and, on PS5, you can use Discord voice chat directly from your console. This integration lets you see what your friends are playing and hop into voice conversations without switching devices.
Before you link: what you need to know
Discord voice chat is only available on PS5 consoles and requires the latest system software. There is no standalone Discord app on PlayStation; the integration works by linking accounts and transferring voice calls from your phone or computer. Child accounts on PlayStation Network cannot use this feature, but a PlayStation Plus membership is not required. To get Discord on PlayStation, you simply link your accounts, no separate app download is needed.
Link your accounts from the Discord app
- Open Discord on your desktop or mobile device.
- Select Connections, then click Add.
- Choose the PlayStation logo from the list of services.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to login to PlayStation network and authorize the connection.
Once linked, your Discord profile can show the PS4 or PS5 game you are currently playing, and you can choose to display your PlayStation Network Online ID.
Link your accounts from your PS5 console
- Press the PS button on your controller to open the control center.
- Select Game Base, then navigate to the Discord tab.
- Choose Link Account and follow the instructions to authenticate.
This method is especially useful if you prefer to start the setup directly on your console.
How to use Discord voice chat on PS5
- On your Discord mobile or desktop app, join a voice channel in a server or start a direct voice call.
- On the mobile app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the audio control panel.
- Select Join on PlayStation, then choose your PS5 from the list of available consoles.
- The voice chat will transfer to your PS5, appearing on the voice chat card in the control center where you can manage audio settings.
After linking, you can also join Discord server voice channels or direct voice chats directly from the PS5's Game Base without starting the call on another device first.
Make your game activity visible on Discord
To make Discord show what game you're playing, adjust your PlayStation Network privacy settings. Set both Online Status and Now Playing to Anyone. This allows your linked Discord profile to automatically display the PS4 or PS5 title you are currently running.
Troubleshooting a broken link
If you linked your Discord and PlayStation Network accounts before the voice chat update was released, you may need to unlink and re-link them to enable voice chat on PS5. Go to User Settings > Connections on Discord, remove the PlayStation connection, then follow the linking steps again from either the Discord app or your PS5 console. This refreshes the integration and unlocks the full feature set.
