How To Download Videos From YouTube Premium On PC

You can use your YouTube Premium subscription to download videos from YouTube Premium on PC directly through the official YouTube website. This built-in feature stores videos within your browser for offline playback, not as standalone files on your hard drive.

Sign in to your YouTube Premium account

Visit YouTube.com and sign in with the Google account that has an active YouTube Premium subscription. Without a valid subscription, the download button will not appear.

Find the video and click download

Navigate to the watch page of the video you wish to download. Below the video player, click the "Download" button. Supported browsers for this feature include Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera.

Access and manage your downloaded videos

To find your saved content, click "Downloads" in the left-hand menu on YouTube.com. Remember that these videos are stored within the YouTube site, not as .mp4 files on your computer's hard drive.

Understand offline playback limits and device rules

Downloaded videos can be played offline for up to 29 or 30 days. After this period, your device must reconnect to the internet to check for video availability and refresh the offline playback period. If a video becomes unavailable for offline playback, it will be removed from your downloads during the next sync.

Your YouTube Premium membership allows offline features on up to 10 devices simultaneously. If you attempt to download on an 11th device, the oldest of the 10 authorized devices will be de-authorized. This device swapping can be done up to 4 times in one year; exceeding this limit will prevent further downloads on new devices until the limit resets. Note that deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app on a device counts as a new device registration towards the 10-device limit and the annual 4-swap limit.
