To find your phone number on a tablet, you need to check the device's settings, as the number is stored on the SIM card inside the device.
Before you start: does your tablet have a phone number?
Only tablets with cellular connectivity and an active SIM card have a dedicated phone number. Wi-Fi-only tablets do not have a phone number. If your tablet lacks a SIM card slot or you have not inserted a SIM card, it cannot make or receive standard phone calls. If you need to get a phone number on a tablet, you will need to purchase a cellular-enabled model and activate a service plan with a carrier.
Find your phone number on an Android tablet
On an Android tablet, the most direct method is to use the Settings app. The exact wording of menu options can vary slightly by manufacturer and Android version, but the path is consistent.
- Open the Settings app on your tablet.
- Scroll down and tap About tablet or About device.
- Look for Status or SIM status and tap it.
- Your phone number will be displayed under Phone number or My phone number.
On some devices, the phone number is listed directly under the "About tablet" page without needing to enter the "Status" submenu.
Find your phone number on an iPad or iPhone
For iPads and iPhones, the phone number is found in the Phone section of the Settings app.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Phone.
- Your phone number is listed under My Number.
This method works on all iPads that support cellular service, as well as iPhones. If you are using an iPad that does not have cellular capabilities, you will not see a "Phone" option in Settings.
Other ways to locate your number
If the Settings method does not work, or if you need the number quickly without navigating menus, try these alternative approaches. They work on both Android tablets and iPads.
Check the Phone app's contact card
Open the Phone app on your tablet. Look for a tab labeled Contacts or Favorites. At the very top of the contact list, you will often see an entry called My Number or My Card that displays your phone number. This is especially useful if you want to share your number quickly or need to make a phone call from your tablet using a VoIP app that requires the number for caller ID.
Eject and inspect the physical SIM card
Some SIM cards have the phone number printed directly on the card itself. To check this, locate the SIM card tray on your tablet, use a SIM eject tool or a paperclip to pop the tray out, and carefully remove the SIM card. Look for a number labeled "Phone Number," "MSISDN," or a string of digits that matches your number. This method is reliable if your tablet is not displaying the number in software, but not all carriers print the number on the SIM.
Look at the device's original packaging
The box your tablet came in may have a label or sticker that lists the phone number assigned to the device. This is common when the tablet was purchased with a service plan directly from a carrier. Check the side or bottom of the box for a barcode or serial number sticker that includes your phone number. If you still have the original packaging, this can be the fastest way to find tablet phone number without turning on the device.
