Connecting Redmi earbuds to your phone is straightforward once you know the correct method for your specific model. This guide covers the fastest pairing steps for all current Redmi Buds and AirDots, plus how to fix connection problems when automatic pairing fails.
Before you start connecting your Redmi earbuds
Before first use, ensure both earbuds are fully charged and that any protective films covering the charging contacts inside the case have been removed. These films can prevent the earbuds from powering on or entering pairing mode. Leaving them in place is the most common reason a new pair fails to connect.
How to put Redmi earbuds in pairing mode
Depending on your model, there are three primary ways to activate pairing mode. For most Redmi Buds models (including Buds 3 Pro, Buds 4 Pro, Buds 6, Buds 6 Active, Buds 6 Pro, and Buds 6 Play), simply open the charging case lid for the first time and the earbuds will automatically enter pairing mode. The indicator light on the case will blink white to confirm they are discoverable.
If the automatic pairing does not start, or if you are connecting to a new device after the initial setup, place both earbuds in the charging case with the lid open, then press and hold the function button on the charging case for approximately 2 seconds. The indicator light will blink white, signaling the earbuds are in pairing mode.
For Redmi AirDots, remove both earbuds from the charging case; they should power on automatically and enter pairing mode. For Redmi Buds Essential models that lack a function button, take the earbuds out of the case and press the touchpad on both earbuds for 3 to 7 seconds until the LED indicator blinks red and blue or white.
Connect to your phone or device
- Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone, tablet, or PC.
- Search for available Bluetooth devices in your device's settings.
- Select the corresponding Redmi Earbuds name from the list (for example, "Redmi Buds 4 Pro", "Redmi Buds 6 Active", or "Redmi AirDots_R").
- If a passcode is requested during pairing, enter "0000".
- Once connected, a confirmation sound will play, and the earbuds are ready for use.
In daily use, simply opening the charging case lid will automatically reconnect the earbuds to the last paired Bluetooth device if it is within range.
Using Google Fast Pair (for compatible models)
For Redmi Buds 3 Pro, Redmi Buds 6, and Redmi Buds 6 Active, you can use Google Fast Pair for a quick pop-up connection. Ensure your phone's system is updated to the latest stable version. On supported Xiaomi and Android devices, bring the unlocked phone with Bluetooth turned on close to the earbuds' charging case. Open the charging case lid and follow the on-screen instructions on your phone to connect the earbuds. If the pop-up doesn't appear, you can manually pair jlab wireless earbuds using a similar standard Bluetooth method.
Can't connect? How to reset your Redmi earbuds
If the earbuds fail to pair or connect to an old device instead of your current phone, a factory reset will clear the pairing history and resolve the issue. For most Redmi Buds models, place both earbuds in the open charging case, then press and hold the function button for approximately 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks white. Release the button; the earbuds will restore factory settings and re-enter pairing mode. For Redmi AirDots, press the multi-function key for 15 seconds until the red and white light flashes alternately three times and turns off, then unpair "Redmi AirDots_R" from your phone's Bluetooth list before attempting a fresh connection.
If you are in a dense environment with many 2.4 GHz electromagnetic signals, Bluetooth connections can experience occasional disconnects or no sound. Moving away from sources of interference, such as Wi-Fi routers or microwave ovens, can improve stability. If you prefer a different audio experience entirely, you can use JBL wireless earbuds instead, and if you need help getting started, you can pair JBL wireless earbuds with a similar quick process. For models that support it, the Xiaomi Earbuds app (compatible with Android 6.0+ and iOS 14.0+) offers additional features and connection management.
