Verro Pool Cleaning Robot Making Waves

iRobot, makers of the popular and hackable Roomba floor sweeping robot and the Scooba floor moper, takes on dirty swimming pools with the introduction of Verro. Verro comes in two models offering various filtration capacities and scrubbing techniques.

Take the mentality of a pool cleaning robot that bumps around randomly and make a carpet vacuum. What's the next logical step in upward logical progression?... To take that technology to the next level and make a pool cleaning robot of course! Isn't this the same functionality you can get from a regular pool cleaner? I guess I'm not understanding the novelty of making an electronic robotic one? Someone help me to understand. (no I didn't read the article so that's probably the problem)

I haven't found any technical details yet, but it sure looks like there is an AC cord hanging off that unit. Anyone know?
