Markus Waibel writes, "The latest episode of the Talking Robots podcast series interviews the key figure in Swarm Robotics, Marco Dorigo. He is very well known for his work on the successful Swarm-bots project and for his work on ant colony optimization (ACO). Marco Dorigo currently leads a team of more than twenty researchers at IRIDIA, the artificial intelligence lab of the Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). As part of his current projects he is coordinating the Swarmanoid project, which plans to extend current research in distributed robotic systems by combining three different types of robots, eye-bots, handbots, and foot-bots, in teams of up to 60 robots. In this podcast he discusses the principles, the current challenges and the future of swarm robotics and swarm intelligence. Listen in!" For more on the swarm bots, see our previous Swarmanoid story.
