Spotify's total minutes listened in Wrapped include listening in Private Mode and content marked "Exclude from Taste Profile." For music and podcasts, Spotify Wrapped's total minutes reflect your actual listening time, meaning if you listen to a podcast at 2x speed, only the actual minutes you spent listening are counted. How to calculate total minutes from your extended streaming history
If you want a complete picture that goes beyond the current year's Wrapped, you can request your extended streaming history data from Spotify. This data includes the "msPlayed" (milliseconds played) for each track, allowing for manual calculation of total listening time. This is how to see how many minutes you've listened on Spotify across your entire account history.
To get your data:
- Go to your Spotify account settings and request your extended streaming history. Spotify will email you a link to download your data as JSON files.
- Open the downloaded JSON files. Each track entry will include an "msPlayed" field, which records the milliseconds you listened to that track.
This manual process gives you the most accurate, complete count of your listening time.
How to check your audiobook listening time
For audiobooks, Spotify Premium users receive a monthly allocation of listening time, which is counted based on the audiobook's normal playback speed, regardless of playback speed adjustments.
