Well Im in highschool right now and i have entered into a few competitons and am an avid tinkerer. The big competiton that i have entered is FIRST if you dont know about first go to and read up. FIRST is by far the best most challenging thing that ive ever competed in. My first year we came in 3rd in our regional and that year i was back up driver and main builder. Last year, my second i was head of the club and i was the arm operator for most of nationals (over 500 teams there) and at the regional for most of the competiton. I also constructed a robot to help the handicapped with my parter (dukeman911) for the science fair. We built 3 prototypes the first was for the National engineering and design competion. We won one of the 2 awards given out and it was the best design and idead award. The second prototype we made for the regional scincefair, we won a few awards includind the army award and SECME. The last was for the state science fair which we placed third in the team competiton, if we were in the engineering sections im pretty sure wqe would have done better. I also play with my legos alot. I and the First ever lego battlebot champion for out school in which i beat dukeman911 and another challenger. I won the second and third times around. Then during the fourth demo we did at the local fair when we brought our FLL elementary students to i built a new robot seing how i had a proven winner and i wanted to experiment more. And i barely lost at the end but it was a great show. I also built a mascot for team 212 (our robotics team for FIRST)the lightning car. Its a nice little RC car that i made. I ran it for close to 24 hours over 2 days for demos for our school. you can see pics of it at my homepage. I also made an entertainment robot. Its called armstrong and is remote controled and litle kids can ride it (its based off a from from a powerwheels kinda thing). It has a remote video camera with sound so its easier to operate the arms that move up and down and also open and close. i useually pick up a volleyball and bring it to little kids or whatnot. i have plans to make a real version of my lego recycle bot which was nomitated to win best robot of the month, but lost to a more fun robot. you can see pictures and descriptions

Its basically 2 motors with propellers i made strapped on to a piece of foam with a servo steering the boat. I also built an seige engine which is an onager which u can see


Its not a robot but a serious piece of engineering Thats all i can think of right now i might add some later.

all are of the robot I made to be a cheap robot platform. This incarnation was designed to drive down an airvent and take an air sample. meanwhile doing an assortment of things, like using stepper motors to track distances which is logged in the software, use the camera to look around. And the software had an assortment of autonomous modes where you could input a sieries of moves and have the bot perform them, also I had sharp gpd12 (not pictured) infrared rangers for avoidance detection and room mapping. I had plans for an array of other attachments but never got around to building them.

The last picture is the robot we made to win the UCF regional championship last year.

Yeah i think its been a while since ive posted....yea it has. Well since my last posts lots of stuff has happened. Firstly im attending UCF school of engineering next week :-)

As far as robots go ive done Alot, I never got to build the GPS robot that was planned in the last post. I built a bunch of little things that i cant think of right now. At the end of 2001 i built an onager, which is a type of seige engine(catapult). Then last summer i went to North Carolina State University and built a small robot with custom electronics that made the robot able to follow lines and play music. Ill post it in the gallery its called The Funk so look it up. Then last year i made a small robot designed to drive through airvents, it was for a science project, the title kind of explains it "Value Engineering a Multi-Purpose computer controlled robotic platform" Ill post pics of that its call it "VERP"

All the while i Was competitng in FIRST robotics. In 2002 we came in 9th place in our division at the national level. In 2003 we won our regional competition. Ive learned alot building thoes bots. Goto to look at bots, my team number was 212. And go to to see what the games were.


Well i have started working on next years scienc project and I'm still trying to figure out if i want to use a GPS and just move to waypoints or to get sonar and go fully autonomous. I also am not secure in my controller, either stamp or a laptop.

wow this is a cool site. another thing i built was a little walking robot that used a basic stamp board and 2 servos. it was really hard to make but it worked and searched for light usung a 2 photo electric cells. i uploaded a pic of the care bot( the last prototype of the science project)
