Notes: My first robot was the Hikawa HX-3000 Mini Robot arm. This is a 5 axis stepper motor controlled steel beast which had its own microprocessor (A Z-80, I think) and version of BASIC. It has since died but I would like to resurrect/upgrade it if possible. My current robot is the build weekly Cybot from the Real Robots magazine. What I like is the idea of robot arms and making them movable and self contained. I am interested in both the hardware (I am an electronics enthusiast of 30+ years) and software (I am a programmer by trade). The latest thing that has grabbed my attention is the FIRST RC-2004 robot controller board. I may be able to use one of these to resurrect the HX-3000. I am located in Australia and have been here 6 years since coming from New Zealand. I don't know of any robotics groups around here but admit that I haven't looked that hard ;-} The internet is that much closer to hand ;-}
