Talking Robots: Owen Holland

Markus Waibel writes, "In the latest episode of the Talking Robots podcast we talk to Owen Holland about artificial consciousness. Owen is well-known for his rediscovery of what is widely seen as the first autonomous robot ever build, Grey Walter's tortoise robot. He also talks about his current project, in which he builds a life-size 'anthropomimetic' humanoid robot. This robot closely copies human muscular and skeletal structure, which gives it an eerie, humanlike appearance (see some videos here). Among many other things, Owen has also raised some eyebrows with his work on the first robotic predator, the slugbot, which collected and digested slugs for power."
