Armbot was my first robot. I built ArmBot to experiment with using the Basic Stamp 1 to control servo motors. Specifically, servos controlling a mechanical arm. In fact, I really built ArmBot in preparation for a mobile robot (As you read this I probably am in the process, or have already built this robot). ArmBot was very successful, and in the following pages I hope to share with you how I built and programmed it.For the mechanics of ArmBot I chose to use LEGO for their compatibility, strength, etc. (I also had a big box of them sitting around, which made them quite tempting) The basic design of ArmBot can be seen in many of the pictures on these pages. It consists of a base, an “arm,” and a claw. I used two HS-300 servo motors to move the the arm from side to side and to open and close the claw.
