| NN 2000 is an experimental platform. The challenge is to make an autonomous navigating platform, with the use of modern techniques like CCD cams, sonar, infrared and laser. It main task is to find, identify and map objects. The robot arm with a small gripper and a fire fighting hose is still under construction. It will pick up and replace small objects. This project started February this year. The robots hard and software is still heavy under construction. Further progress of this robot will be added on this page. Almost forgotten: "And who do we think we are? " Well we are DRP. A strange kind of, totally unofficial, pioneering home laboratory for robotics. The robots brain is an old 80486 25 Mhz laptop. This laptop isn't fast enough for handling the data stream of the robots interface. It's getting funnier with a 200Mhz CPU, but my budget input is to slow for such luxury. Especially reading the videodigitizer is everything but real-time with this computer. The robotplatform can be build up, to make more space for electronics, batteries and a second CPU or microprocessor. Email: robot@planet.nl | |
