iRobot has patented an intelligent new navigation system for
Roomba. The company faces new competition from the Neato XV-11, with laser-
guidance and mapping, and the Mint Cleaner, so this doesn't come a moment too soon.

At my blog, Robot Stock News, Neato Robotics' VP takes on iRobot's Roomba in an
hour-long lecture at the famed Palo Alto Research Center. Fascinating look at how their
new XV-11 robot vacuum came to be, including the first consumer laser guidance system
under $2,000.

I've uncovered a new 1-pound military micro robot called iRobot Ember. The idea is to send out swarms of these robots to set
up and instant wireless communications grid on the battlefield, but there could be a lot of
other uses besides.

Worth a look!
