Notes:
My education is in electrical and computer engineering, and I've spent the last dozen years or so doing ASIC design and verification for various computer, networking, and graphics companies. Robotics has been my hobby, though, since I was a teenager and I have built several cool bots over the years including a R/C with a 40 HP snowmobile engine and a PC bot based on a VIA mini-itx board and a roboteq controller. I'm a regular reader and occasional contributor to rec.robotics.misc and the Yahoo Robotics club. I'm also a member of the Nashua Robot Builders club. Last year, I co-founded Focus Robotics and am currently serving as it's CTO. We make stereo vision systems that are extremely useful for robotics because they can generate real time, high resolution depth information at a low cost, weight, and power consumption. In addition to the computer vision experience I've developed, I have an active research interest in localization and mapping (SLAM) technologies and their application to real world mobile robot navigation.
