Notes: I'm primarily a programmer, having about 16 years of experience in C and various assembly languages for microprocessors/microcontrollers. Processors I'm very familiar with are Z80, 8051, 80x86, MC68HC11, PIC varieties and 6502. I'm interested in machine vision algorithms and their applications. Presently I'm working on a security vision system that stores video in digital format on the host computer. Data/temporal compression are achieved by recording image sequences where the scene has changed (ie a person has walked into/thru the field of view).

I've poked around at robots.net for a while, but just now got around to creating an account.

I'm particularly interested in the recent press release by Sharp for their LZ0P3721 cell phone CCD imager/camera.

Regarding a question posted to the article by tafkaks about the hardware interface... My investigation so far has uncovered that the interface is 8-bit parallel (from http://sharp-world.com/products/device/ctlg/pdf/ccd2003_e.pdf, which only an imaging device roadmap, not a datasheet).

Datasheets for other Sharp CCDs that I've checked so far appear to utilize different output interfaces (VGA, EIA, etc), so we may need to go to Sharp distributors to try to obtain an advance datasheet.
