Several robots.net users have submitted this story, being covered in the Washington Post and other sources, about research on orinthopers and micro air vehicles at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. The articles focuses on Mentor, a MAV that is also the first robot ornithoper capable of hovering. The research is being funded by SRI and DARPA who see, not suprisingly, military applications for insect-size flying robots.
