The Portland State Aerospace Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit aerospace club presented a paper at the recent USENIX conference describing the development of their Linux-based avionics software. The software was used in their recently tested sub-orbital launch vehicle. Their goal is developing a launch system that can put a nanosatellite in orbit. Each of their launch vehicles has increased in size as along with their research grants. The current test vehicle is the LV2 weighing in at 110lbs and 161 inches high.
