By way of Howard Rheingold's blog comes a report of ferel robot dogs. So, what is the Ferel Robotics project? It's "performance art" created by Natalie Jeremijenko. The idea is to hack consumer robot dogs to add additional logic and sensors. Packs of the new semi-autonomous, feral robots would be released at toxic waste sites to sniff out pollutants. What's the point of it all? Who knows; it's art.
