New Icarus Verilog Release

For those working with CPLDs, FPGAs or other devices which require Verilog simulation and synthesis tools, you may want to try out Icarus Verilog. Version 0.7 of the leading Open Source Verilog tool is out and provides simulation, synthesis, and compilation of IEEE-1364 Verilog code. It compiles on Linux and other Unix systems and can produce XNF and EDIF files suitable for use with Xilinx components. Icarus Verilog is Free Software licensed under the GNU GPL and includes full source code.

I'll have to try it when I have time, posted 13 Apr 2003 at 18:16 UTC by zeevon » (Observer)

I have always been interested in trying out Icarus and gEDA (GPL Electronic Design Automation). I only used MaxPlus+II at school for the Altera UP-2 board on my first robot and I found that piece of software very buggy and unstable. It was also Windows-only, which means that I wouldn't be able to run it at home (not that I would want to), since I'm only running Linux on my machines.
