The anime robot Tetsuwan Atom or Astro Boy as he was known in the US version was born on April 7, 2003 according to the original storyline from the 1950 era comic. Japan is celebrating the birthday this month with a nativity-like museum exhibit reenacting Astro Boy's birth. Another article in the Daily Yomiuri includes the opinions of Japanese experts on Astro Boy's cultural impact.
