UCAVs and Other War Robots

Two new articles on Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs) have popped up recently. Janes has a new article out called UCAVs: Armed and Dangerous that talks about the X-45 and the rapidly increasing US military budget for combat robots like the X-45. The military doubled spending on UAV/UCAV programs between 2000 and 2001; spending on flying combat robots is expected to double again by 2005 and triple by 2007. The Swirling Brain also brought a New York Times article titled Robotic Warfare to my attention.

The thing that troubles me about predator like, unmanned combat vehicles is that regardless of who's flag is painted on the side, the only country that REALLY owns it is the one that can take control of it.
