Appearance Based Face Recognition

Posted 29 Aug 2002 at 22:48 UTC by steve Share This

From The Robotics Institute of CMU comes a new technical report entitled, Appearance Based Face Recognition. This new paper by Ralph Gross, Iain Matthews, and Simon Baker develops a theory of face recognition based on light fields or radiance values of the pixels in the face image. Their theory leads to a pose-invariant face recognition algorithm. This research is part of the Robotics Institute's Face Group and the DARPA Human Identification Program.
