Mars FIDO robot ready to go

NewScientist has an article about NASA's FIDO robot designed to work on Mars in 2004. Now maybe we can find out what that face is all about! FIDO should fit nicely into the nostrals.

Very similar to "Sojourner", posted 21 Aug 2002 at 16:12 UTC by jeffkoenig » (Master)

Since the Mars Rover mission, Nasa Tech Briefs has had pictures of several other Mars robot designs. The "Rocky" series comes to mind.

It seems like they are sticking with the basic "Sojourner" design. I'd like to read a comparison of the different designs, and find out why they chose to stick with this design.

Of course, the fact that it was very successful may have had something to do with it...

I want a toy!, posted 21 Aug 2002 at 23:50 UTC by jeffkoenig » (Master)

I hope NASA licenses Fido to Mattel or Tonka, so I can put a little Fido toy next to my Sojourner.
