The 11th annual AAAI
Mobile Robot Competition is coming up next week. The Rochester
Democrat & Chronical has an article
on one of the robot builders participating in the "Hors d'oeuvres
Anyone?" event. The robot competition is part of the 18th annual AAAI
Conference which will be held July 28 through August 1 in Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada. The Edmonton Journal has an article
about the overall conference.
Right now I'm sitting in my office waiting for the airport shuttle to
pick us up for our flight up there. I work at NIST (I've mentioned
this once or twice before) in the Intelligent Systems Division, where
they've developed a "standard" Urban Search and Rescue course for USAR
robots. There's information on the AAAI site, the competition is
called RoboRescue. We've taken apart our course and shipped it up
North, and then we get to build it, run the competition, tear it down
and ship it back again.
Anyway, if any of you all is going to be there, come by the RoboRescue
course, and if you see a NIST guy with a ponytail and a hat on,
introduce yourself, that'd be me. :-)
