MIT News has posted a summary of Seymour Papert's talk at a Media Lab symposium on computers in education. Papert laments the good old days of AI in which Big Ideas about knowledge and human learning turned up on a regular basis. In his view AI started out trying to address big questions such as "Can we make a machine to rival human intelligence?" but now it has been reduced to a minor method for improving the bottom-line of businesses.
