A recent NASA JPL news release offers an update on the status of artificial muscles made from electroactive polymers. The goal of Dr. Yoseph Bar-Cohen and other researchers is to develop a robot arm powered by artificial muscles that can beat a human arm-wrestling champion. The challenge has not yet been met. The research is part of JPL's Advanced Actuators Project.
