Lea Goldman of Forbes Magazine has written an article on Irobot's history, from its founding by two MIT graduates to its first profit. Mentioned along the way are several of Irobot's creations including nanorobots for Japan, a six-legged, underwater mine locator built for the US Navy, urban rconnaissance robots for the DOD, and even toy robots for Hasbro.
