Jeremy Smith has written quite an interesting essay on robots and philosphy that covers everything from the writings from Rodney Brooks, Isaac Asimov, and Philip K. Dick, to the philosophic ideas of Francis Bacon, Plato, and Aristotle. He even mentions dumpster-diving in his younger days to find a robot parts; something any robot builder can identify with.
