Nanotech and Robotic Soldiers

Posted 10 Apr 2002 at 13:13 UTC by steve Share This

A new BBC article is out today on MIT's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnology which is working on Heinlein-like powered body armor for human soldiers. And a new Wired article on the several DARPA-funded Tactical Mobile Robot (TMR) projects including the Draper Laboratory's ThrowBots, the MIT/iRobot PackBot, and several SAIC robots. Both of these topics have been reported on previously but there's a lot of interest lately due to the continued Islamic terrorism around the world and the latest meltdown in the Middle East.
