This week's Nature includes an article on a recent UAV demonstration event called "Aviation of the Future Days" in which an NMSU/NASA UAV called Proteus demonstrated the ability to fly safely in civilian airspace. Both slow moving commercial aircraft and high-speed military jets were flown around and even straight at the UAV during the event to demonstrate its sensor and avoidance technology.
