For years scientists have been telling us about smart dust, ocean monitoring nanobots, and medical nanoparticals. Everytime one of these stories comes up, the first thing on most peoples' mind is what the side-effects of all this nano-debris floating around everywhere are. Generally the nano-scientists dismiss this concern without providing any answers. It appears the EPA has finally noticed the potential problem and commissioned a study of nanotech's "dark side". The study will attempt to answer questions like what happens to these things once they're floating around in rivers, drifting through the air, and absorbed into our bodies.
