Virginia Tech reports that Criag Woolsey of their Aerospace and Ocean Engineering department has received grants from the NSF and ONR to continue his work on advanced control methods for autonomous underwater and aerospace vehicles. Craig's work includes some interesting research on the use of internal rotors to stabilize underwater vehicles. Two research papers on the subject are available here and here.
