Reuters is reporting that a CIA Predator RQ-1B UAV may have killed Ayman al-Zawahri, one of the leaders of the Islamic Terrorist group Al Qaeda, with a Hellfire-C laser-guided missile. The terrorist leader had been under surveillance for several days by Predator UAVs. The General Atomics Predator UAV has been in use since 1994 as a remote-controlled surveillance robot and the upgraded 1998 RQ-1B was recently armed with missiles.
