Brad Templeton has written a short essay on post-human intelligence and the possiblity that they could evolve from our pets rather than traditional AI. And, if they do, he suggests they may answer Marvin Minsky's question of whether Humans will be lucky enough to be kept around as pets by a post-human intelligence.
