Robot Perception

A new technical report is available from the CMU Robotics Institute entitled, The Simulated Evolution of Robot Perception. The report, a doctoral dissertation by M. C. Martin, describes the use of genetic programming to evolve a vision system for reactive obstacle avoidance in a robot. The paper also includes some interesting ideas on perception, representation, and human-level AI.
